The 1st annual Morgan Elementary Library Spooking Reading Night was held on Tuesday, October 22. I wasn't for sure how many families would be attending this event. I was so surprised and thrilled to see the number of people that came. There were over 120 people, and the library was just packed with families reading together the Halloween/Autumn books that I had set out in baskets. I think the parents and children really enjoyed this special evening of supporting family literacy. See pictures below.
Our spring book fair was a huge success. We made $1700 in Scholastic dollars to buy new books for the library. One set that I have picked out is a set of biographies called "Who Was?" Some titles include The Beatles, Disney, King Tut, Louis Armstrong, and Jackie Robinson. The set includes 40 books that I think the students will really enjoy. I have about 5-6 titles in my personal collection that the students can check out if they are interested in seeing a sample of the books.
And, here is a website that tells about future Who Was? books that are going to be written. Students can even click on a link to vote for a favorite. Check it out at: http://www.publishersweekly.com/pw/by-topic/childrens/childrens-book-news/article/61389-who-will-be-grosset-s-100th-who-was.html |
